Cotteswold Dairy Academy Purpose Day

On Tuesday, 5th November, members of the Cotteswold Dairy Academy cohort participated in a day of community engagement at the Springbank Community Centre allotment. As a business, we are committed to our purpose of being at the heart of a responsible and sustainable dairy community, and working to maintain strong ties with local charities.

Springbank Community Centre

Founded in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Springbank Community Centre initially provided emergency food parcels to vulnerable individuals and families in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and Gloucester. Since then, the organisation has expanded its services to support both the local community and surrounding areas.

Springbank Community Centre now offers a range of services, including:

·         Community Food Pantry

·         Community Café

·         Cheltenham Household Essentials Project (CHEP)

·         Commissioned Youth Work

·         School Holiday Projects

On the day

The aim of the day was to assist Springbank Community Centre with the upkeep of their allotment, which they have managed for the past two years. This initiative supports the centre's goal of using the allotment to grow vegetables for the community food pantry, directly benefiting local residents in need. Regular maintenance is crucial for Springbank Community Centre to continue using the allotment space.

The Cotteswold Academy team undertook a variety of tasks, including weeding, strimming, trimming, pruning, and sorting surplus items for disposal. These activities not only ensured the allotment was well-prepared for winter but also demonstrated our commitment to sustainability and community support. By supporting local initiatives such as the Springbank Community Centre, the team actively contributed to our purpose of being at the heart of a responsible and sustainable dairy community.
